Claudia Tung

I am a Southern New Jersey based, contemporary mixed media artist, working in mixed media.
With a passion for nature, my art is expressed through a distinct flow of style and illuminated color.
Painting pictures that are inspired by the natural patterns of flowers, insects, and landscapes brings me joy!
"There is a different sense of beauty looking at nature in this way”. I work directly with my clients
to capture their ideas of beauty on paper.

My interest in art started in elementary school. From there, exploration of many mediums
brought my interest to study art professionally . I attended the School of Visual Arts
in NYC, which is where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
These were the the punk years of the 1980's!
My work has been shown in New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey. Currently, my work is on display
at the Sutherland Arts Studio and Gallery.

I worked in New York and raised my family there before venturing to the Philadelphia region in 2000.
Time after that, I was drawing and painting in various mediums and always looked to explore them all.
Currently, the medium of choice is ink and markers. There is a fluidness when the inks touch a smooth
surface. A magical experience happens when the inks intertwine with my ideas.
I specialize in, inks on paper and jewelry which I call "Wearable Art". I also offer commission art with
paintings, switch plate and socket covers, wooden hamsas and crosses.

My favorite part of looking for inspiration is the color of objects, shapes, patterns and textures.
As well as inspiration from other artists. I am also inspired by artwork created by children.
Watching children draw and paint is a delight because it is pure art at its best.
